Tips & Tricks: June 2025

Welcome to this month’s Tips blog, great to have you here.

New York City has been my inspiration this month as when I visited it for the first time in 2018, I came home with a bucket-load of memories and photographs and felt that I could spend a lifetime trying to recreate what I experienced. Considering I am a country girl at heart, no one was more surprised than me that I fell in love with NYC, I thought I would hate the noise and the bustle but it is a remarkable place, full of creative and unusual people who are genuinely pleased to welcome someone new and LOVE anyone English.

This month I have tackled lots of iconic landmarks but this photo kept calling me, particularly as I have a memory of following my husband around trying to understand the block system while he seemed to take to it naturally. It may have something to do with the fact that I have zero sense of direction mind you!

I use my usual traditional assortment of materials, including my own watercolours but the paper I am using was new to me by Hahnemuhle (you can find it here) and it took all of the peculiarities of the paint and really showed them off well, I was quite impressed.
